This isn’t sustainable for platforms like ours and noncompliance comes with massive fines and potential jail time.

• Dynamic Character Count: We now have a dynamic character count in the first header you see on the site, and it’s animated!

What's Missing

I sadly did not have time to do "EVERYTHING" for both Summaries & Group Chats. So, we will be getting the following in the next patch:

Auto Multi Reply for Group Chats

I really wanted to get this out now, as I feel it's a major part of the experience, but I opted for a stable approach for now, which is just one character at a time replying, but alternating. You can fake multi-reply by just clicking the send button with nothing in your input area, this will just trigger the next character reply.

Auto Summaries & Custom Summary Model

I also really wanted to get summaries to be completely hands off, with the user being able to select a range of messages and an interval for summarization. I did not get that done. But, it is still planned and coming.

Custom Impersonation Prompt & Model

I straight up didn't even think about this until a QA tester asked about it, so while I didn't think on it at the time, it will be coming. I may also include the option to pick an alternate model for impersonation, as it seems that might be useful as well.

What's Next

Well, we're still bug fixing and optimizing performance across the application, and of course, I'll be working on what didn't make it into the patch this time. I think we will probably be spreading these patches out from 1 per week to 1 every two weeks. If we're ready at the one-week mark, we will of course release. However, I also want to give more time for features to be fully fleshed out before release. I probably should've delayed today's patch to finish up the above, but I know a lot of you were foaming at the mouth for this one. If you experience bugs, please report them.

Howdy folks. I come to you bringing good tidings and news from the dark, damp cave we store myself and the rest of the dev team inside. For about a month, the team and I have been cracking away at the largest, most ambitious backend and functionality shift we’ve embarked on since the migration from a static Firebase application to a Next.js application with a proper backend. That won’t mean much to most of you, but trust me, there has been a very good reason why we as a team have been so quiet (we’ve been busy).

What does that mean?

This means that in the future, it will be a lot easier and quicker for us to implement functionality changes. It also means that the chatting experience should be a lot more stable in terms of persistence and ease of use. We’ve gone ahead and fully redone the entire chat page, the entire chat log system, and our entire connection stack. This means you will need to use a converter (located at /chat/convert) to convert your old chat logs into fancy new ones! We’ve gone the route of allowing you to pick which ones you want to convert, but you can also do it in bulk if you prefer. It also means that now we have Featherless account linking and a new simple mode that allows you to pick a free queue model or a Featherless model (this requires an API key or an account link, either works), and it will create a connection with optimal instruct and parameters from the API. We, of course, allow users to override the defaults (now done per model/per connection for free queue) as well, and custom connections that don’t use any of our fancy systems are also available.

Featherless Account Linking

First up, let’s talk about the main event; Featherless AI account linking. Gone are the days of entering API keys on every device you own, and today we bring you the ability to link your Featherless Account & WyvernChat account. This lets you utilize all of the models on your plan in a streamlined view inside the chat page.

These models are automatically assigned the defaults provided by the Featherless API; this includes instruct templates and basic settings parameters.

Cloud AI Connections

You can link API keys to the backend; they will be encrypted and can be used across devices.

Cloud AI Connections? Why don’t I get to use them in Story or Scenario mode?

We haven’t got there yet. It’s coming, but we’ve elected to go for an iterative push where we overhaul one section at a time. You will still be using the connections saved per device for Story & Scenario mode.

Hang on. Where is the model list thing for providers that aren’t Featherless? It’s a text box?

Yeah, I know. I’m working on it, and we will get a better version similar to the last one available. I just did this one for now, so you guys can still use other providers while I finish the better implementation.

Uh, is the chat page missing older features?

Yep. They aren’t gone forever, though; they’re just being redone to be better. Impersonation, Chat Summaries, and… actually, I think that’s it for what’s missing are actively being worked on. Chat Summaries, in particular, are now going to be automatic shortly and will come with history. That’s right, if you get a bad summary, you can just choose to go back to the other one, or the one before that, or any in the same chat log!

Chat Page

Simple & Advanced modes are the best of both worlds. Allowing for those of us who want a simplistic easy experience to just pick models without worrying about bad samplers or confusing templates.

Using the same free queue models or with any model on featherless.

Or with completely custom connections inside of advanced mode.

Now, with editable instruct templates, connection-tied parameters, and many upgrades to the Chat UI. You can now edit your own characters inside the chat UI.

And with a much better command menu and many more commands in development.

With a brand new sidebar.

And the ability to select personas easily and in an obvious way.

With a new debug menu to view prompts directly in app, no matter the device.

And a new delete mode.

And the ability to reset to a specific point in a chat log.

WyvernCards

So, I guess to start, let’s talk about what’s changing and why. Well, first, we’re overhauling our entire character system to allow for more expansive options when creating characters. We’ve added a number of new dynamic fields to cards, and we’ve also reduced the number of boxes to fill overall. As to why we’ve done this, it’s to reduce the complexity of card creation for new users. We will be introducing a template system for card creation, which will hopefully help users when it comes to structuring how a character is built. We will allow users to create custom templates, and they will be sharable with the community.

While I don’t want to spoil too much, we’ve also decided to merge the Scenario and Character system into one new type of object called a “Card.” there are Chat RP cards (traditional) and Adventure cards (scenario mode currently). We will also be redoing the entire UI for Scenario Mode and revamping it to be closer to the quality we want to strive toward as a team.

Even though we're making WyvernChat easier to use, don't think that this streamlining has removed customization options from you. If anything, we have a lot more up our sleeves for the power users among us looking for that highly tailored experience.

Preset Overhaul

We’ve added a number of improvements to how LLM settings presets are created and how they are applied, now with more robust custom parameter entry and an easily expandable parameter bank to create your presets with.

Instruct Templates

We’ve also finally added the ability to create, share, and customize instruct templates with other users.

Model Search

We’ve added a new model search page, and-

model reviews, a way to view available providers for a model, and a way for models to come with LLM parameters and instruct templates that work well with that model.

Card Revamp

We’ve also redesigned the cards to be more compact when outside the main search.

Chat Page (Preview)

We’ve also added various new QOL features to the chat page, like live editing of a character, group chats, custom turn order, in-chat parameter editing, and a new positioning and resizing system for most UI elements.

Effective Wednesday, February 19th, current users under the age of 18 will no longer be able to:

• View public bots

• Like public bots

• Send friend requests

• Access any public content on the site

New users that enter a birthdate under 18 years old will be declined from creating an account.

This policy also extends to our Discord server, where minors will no longer be permitted to participate.

Any minor with an existing WyvernChat account will not be banned outright. They will still be able to download or delete their bots at any time but will be restricted from engaging with public content.

After a lot of discussion amongst the team and from listening to feedback from what we believe is the vast majority of our community, we came to the conclusion that this is just the best way forward for us as a platform. This, of course, does not mean WyvernChat will shift its dedication from providing a curated and unpolluted experience in terms of moderation, with our team continuing our ongoing effort to ensure we never reach the lows of similar platforms in the space.

The reality is that the AI space is not built for children, and as the landscape continues to evolve, it has become clear that allowing minors to use WyvernChat presents risks we can no longer ignore. This change is necessary to protect both our users and the platform itself.

We understand that this may impact some users, but we believe this decision is in the best interest of our community moving forward. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

I’m excited to share some good news about WyvernChat’s ongoing migration process! Thanks to countless late nights and a bit of luck, we’ve successfully migrated the backend over to the new platform. You should have already noticed a significant speedup in performance—things should feel a lot snappier across the site!

The Best Part: Your Chat Logs are Safe

While I initially thought resetting chat logs was inevitable, I’ve managed to port over your chat logs with much success! That means your message history will remain intact. No data loss, no need to download anything, and no more stressing over lost conversations.

This is a huge win, and I’m genuinely relieved to be able to preserve such an important part of your experience on WyvernChat.

What’s Next?

We’re still fine-tuning a few things and optimizing the platform further, but the hardest part of the migration is behind us. As always, I’ll keep you updated on any future changes or improvements.

The DB

Well, I've sort of been blocked for a few days on this networking issue; I'm waiting on support to fix it. The DB migration has still not happened yet, which sucks cause I don't like waiting around. But, I've decided to do a bit of a much better approach to the migration, I'll be keeping a MongoDB instance up with our current data, and working on optimizing the MariaDB with a new kind of chatlog and a better chat system. This new one is being designed with Group Chats, Tool Use, and other neat things in mind first and foremost.

I’ve got some important news to share, so buckle up—it’s a bit of a wild ride. WyvernChat is about to undergo some big changes, and while I’ve done everything in my power to avoid this outcome, it’s the best path forward to ensure the platform remains sustainable, fast, and affordable to maintain.

What’s Happening?

To prepare for the future of WyvernChat, we’ll be resetting the following:

• Likes (your reactions to content)

• Contact List (your list of friends or connections)

• Chat Logs (your message history)

Now, before you start panicking, here’s what will not be affected:

• Your User Personas

• All of your Characters

• Lorebooks

• Settings Presets

• Sprite Sets

• Most importantly, your Chat Numbers/Statistics

This means the features that make WyvernChat uniquely yours—the things you’ve poured time and creativity into—will remain intact.

Why This is Happening?

This reset was completely unexpected to me, and I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to find a way to migrate without data loss. Unfortunately, after a lot of effort, it’s become clear that this is the best solution for the long-term health of WyvernChat.

We’re moving to a faster, more efficient platform that will also significantly lower costs. No changes to chatlog length, no message caps, and all of your core progress will remain untouched. I know it’s not ideal, and I truly apologize for the inconvenience, but I promise this is a step forward for a better WyvernChat experience. You have until Monday to download your current chatlogs, and any data updated after midday tomorrow (Saturday, November 23rd) will also not be carried over to the new migration.

We’re obviously committed to bringing you all WyvernChat and keeping everything as free as we can!
